We interviewed Tasha Medve, founder and blogger of The Purposeful You, a home and garden lifestyle brand, and asked her how she uses Farm to Garden in her home garden and gardening projects.

  • How did you first get connected with Farm to Garden and the organic soil developer?

A local farmer, Kim from Busy Bee Florals, introduced me to the black gold for the garden! I went to her home, and I was so impressed!

  • What was your first impression of the soil developer when you used it?

I could tell the quality right away. The colour and feel of the soil was outstanding compared to other bagged soils I used to purchase. It’s hard to find bulk soil that is organic.

  • How do you use the organic soil developer vs Ultra-Fine?

I love to use the ultra-fine soil to amend my garden beds with 2-3 inches on top of the existing soil to bring nutrients into a new season. The organic soil developer I’ve also used to amend the beds and works great as well. I also use the organic soil developer for new landscape garden beds, berries and my cut flower garden.

  • How does the organic soil developer compare to others you’ve tried in the past?

I’ve had amazing success growing vegetables and fruit in the backyard garden. It’s also purer than others and being OMRI-listed is important to me for organic growing.

  • What specific improvements have you noticed in your garden since switching to this product?

I have no weeds! It’s been amazing. It makes my gardening less maintenance and more productive.

  • What were the results when growing flowers versus vegetables?

Both are amazing! I grow cut flowers right in the organic soil developer and I’ve had wonderful success.

  • Why is using organic and sustainable products important to you?

The health of the soil is very important for organic growing practices, especially when it comes to food. Trying to have less of an impact on the earth is a priority. There are many products in soil mixes that have ingredients that are harmful for the earth.

  • What advice would you give to someone just starting to think about soil quality and organic gardening?

The health of your soil is everything when growing vegetables. It is worth it to spend money on good soil for your overall productivity and having success with your hard work! It’s the best investment in your garden.

  • What’s one myth or misunderstanding you think people have about soil or organic gardening?

I believe people think we need a whole bunch of ingredients for healthy soil but simpler is better. Choosing organic soil means the product has undergone a process to ensure the highest quality for growing food. The process and ingredients in your soil is very important.

  • Would you recommend this product to others? Why?

The quality and minimal weeds means you are growing more food and enjoying the garden! It’s the best investment you can make for long-term and sustainable gardening practices in your backyard. I recommend it to all my family and friends.
